Women in the Life, initially a magazine for Black lesbians in the Washington, D.C. area, expanded into a widely circulated publication for lesbians of color. Its ten-year run (1993-2003) was marked by significant growth and impact. This essay from the June 1996 edition highlights the importance of a spiritual connection to one’s health and well-being. The subsequent page is an explainer on breast cancer. It was originally accessed through Dig DC, a portal made accessible through the DC Public Library.
