Women in the Life, initially a magazine for Black lesbians in the Washington, D.C. area, expanded into a widely circulated publication for lesbians of color. Its ten-year run (1993-2003) was marked by significant growth and impact. This edition focuses on the effects of self-love—including an increased desire to tend to one’s well-being. It was originally accessed through Dig DC, a portal made accessible through the DC Public Library.
